- Release Notes: Evaluation Copy of WebLib (10-3-95)
- ======================================================
-
- 1). WHAT TO DO AFTER DOWNLOADING WEBLIBEV.EXE
-
- To install the evaluation copy of WebLib, run WLSETUP.EXE from the File
- menu in the MS Windows Program Manager. If the installation is successful,
- you can then delete all of the files in the directory where you downloaded
- WEBLIBEV.EXE and performed the archive extraction. If the installation fails,
- keep these files so you can try again.
-
- 2). INSTALLING VBXs
-
- WebLib comes with two VBX files: WEBLIBVB.VBX and HTMLPAVB.VBX. These files
- (or a copy of these files) must reside in the Windows system directory (e.g.,
- C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM). If for some reason the installation fails to copy these
- files to your Windows system directory, you will have to copy them manually.
-
- To do this, shutdown Windows. Next, delete any old copies of WEBLIBVB.VBX and
- HTMLPAVB.VBX that might be hanging around in the Windows system directory.
- Finally, copy the files from the WebLib \BIN directory to the Windows system
- directory and restart Windows.
-
- 3). NETSCAPE
-
- WebLib has been tested with versions 1.1 and 1.2 of Netscape Navigator for Windows 3.1.
- In version 1.2, the SaveURL API causes Netscape to display a dialog while the URL is
- retrieved from the network. This dialog is not displayed in Netscape version 1.1. If
- this proves to be a problem, WebLib will be changed to force version 1.2 to be silent
- if possible.
-
- At the time of this writing, Navigator 2.0 does not work with WebLib or any other
- product that uses the DDE or OLE automation interfaces. According to Netscape, DDE and
- OLE automation will be fixed in the next beta release of Navigator 2.0.
-
- 4). SUPPORT
-
- You can get installation and other support for the WebLib evaluation software
- by sending e-mail to 'weblib@potsoft.com'. In your message, include the
- Microsoft Windows version, Web browser type and version, development
- environment and version and any log output (see the help file section on
- Error Handling). Problems regarding installation have the highest priority;
- we will try to respond to these within 24 hours.
